"As a veteran of the war in Iraq, I know that there are many Iraqis who have put themselves and their families at great risk to serve alongside us as translators, drivers and other vital employees.  They have worked for the US military and government agencies, for American contractors and NGOs, and for their brave service, many of these Iraqis are hunted by insurgents and/or forced to flee their homes as refugees.  I believe that, in light of their wartime service and sacrifice, the United States should protect the lives and families of our Iraqi Allies.  Additionally, it is in the interest of American security to show the world that we stand by those who stand by us.  In the end, this is not about politics; it is about doing the right thing and not leaving behind our own."
